The four kids with their friends (the two ladies in the centre).
Their parents have died in a crash while they were waiting at home, all dressed up in their Halloween costumes.
Donald and Crystal Howard had left home to get face paint and extra candy for a fantastic Halloween when the tragedy strikes. Their car skidded and it crashed into a tree. Donald and Crystal died on the spot that very day.
Nathan Bradley, a state trooper on duty that day, had to head over to their place to announce their passing but, he was greeted by four little kids all dressed up in their costumes and ready for the fun. Bradley felt it wasn’t the right time to break this tragic news to the children. After seeking approval from the grandmother, Stephanie Oliver, who was living in Florida and a 7-hour drive away, he brought the children out for some fun – a dinner, movie and lots of candies. And yes, that was the most appropriate thing that Bradley could do for these children!
The kids had a fun-filled day with Bradley and spend the night with them until their grandmother arrived in Georgia. They broke the news to the children in the morning. Stephanie will become the kids’ guardian and they will all move to Florida with her.
Bradley has gone beyond the call of duty for this family. He even started a GoFundMe page to cover Donald and Crystal’s burial in Florida. What they needed was $7,000 but they received so much more. In just two days, it has reach $149,392 now (as of Thursday morning).
“Giving them one more day before their lives will change forever, before their loss will become real, before their grandmother could travel from Florida to become their new guardian.”
